FAQS?
We are aware of our will and what we want for ourselves. This is the free will that God has given us to choose how we want to live. 1 Corinthians 6: 12 speaks of this, "All things are lawful for me but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." We have a freedom to choose. The choices we make are subject to what is right or wrong. In Genesis 2: 16-17, God pointed out what the right choice would be regarding eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil but left it up to Adam to determine whether he agreed or not. This choice was not without consequence. Because we have free will, we often do not see God's place in it all. We can compare God's role to that of a guardian/ parent, who with greater wisdom and experience point out boundaries and nurture to instruct our development. Even those who reach an independent age do not forsake or deny the role that their parents have in their lives. In fact they have rights to us because they created us. From the Christian perspective, God is the creator of all things including men (Col 1: 16-17). That means that whether we believe in him or not, as his creation God does have a place in our lives. God's word teaches us what the consequences can be for our actions but through Christ we have the ability to have an outcome that far outweighs what could ever achieve in our own strength. Submission to God's will is the starting point for the Christian and living it out to the end is the goal.
